Orders First
Basic interest-relief request

Step 1 of 3 · Service

Prepare a basic request.

Ask your creditor or servicer to review qualifying pre-service debt for the federal 6% cap. You won't need a balance, APR, or sign-in.

Start with your service dates, then check the account and prepare your letter. You review, download, and send it yourself.

This tool is for a service period that has already begun. If you have orders but have not reported, some protections may already apply. Check the rules before reporting and use your provider's official request process.

What to know before preparing your request

A starting point for your provider's review

This basic letter requests federal 6% interest relief. It does not decide whether your service or account qualifies, calculate an adjustment, or request a separate state or provider benefit.

Use the relevant qualifying service period. Check Guard and Reserve service conditions if needed. For a disputed account or uncertain service coverage, find military legal assistance.

Your debt must predate that service period. Written notice and accepted service proof must reach the creditor no later than 180 days after service ends. The extra mortgage coverage period does not extend that request deadline.

You will add the documents your provider requires and send the request through its official process. It may ask you for more identifying details there. Orders First does not receive your documents, send your letter, or track a response.
