Disclosures & independenceClear roles and limits

Useful guidance. Clear boundaries.

01

Independent service

Orders First is an independent educational service. It is not part of the Department of Defense, Department of Justice, a military department, a financial institution, or a loan servicer. No government agency or financial institution has endorsed Orders First.

02

Information, not legal advice

Orders First is not a law firm and does not provide legal, tax, or financial advice. The information is general and may not fit every situation. For a court case, foreclosure, eviction, repossession, contested matter, or urgent deadline, seek qualified help promptly.

03

Estimate limits

A potential refund estimate uses the dates, average balance, APR, and other facts you enter with a simplified calculation. It is not a final eligibility decision, creditor calculation, or promised refund. Changing balances, rates, fees, account ownership, documents, and institution rules can change the result.

04

Prepared-request boundary

The current download contains the written request, your name, institution, account type, account last four, active-duty start, and optional email or phone. It does not include the account-opened date, balance, APR, estimate, or calculation. It does not attach service documents or capture a signature.

05

Sources and corrections

Orders First summarizes federal protections and institution programs from official sources. Laws, guidance, programs, and contact details can change. If something looks wrong, send the page link, the statement you question, and an official source when possible—without sending sensitive personal information.

06

Names, trademarks, and advertising

Organization names and trademarks identify the programs or contacts being discussed and do not imply affiliation or endorsement. Orders First does not currently display ads. If advertising is added later, it will be labeled and separated from editorial work, and it will not control which benefits, institutions, or sources appear.

07

AI-assisted editorial work

Orders First uses AI-assisted tools to help research, organize, and draft editorial material. Those tools are not authors, experts, or independent reviewers. Orders First remains responsible for what it publishes, links to the sources behind material claims, and corrects supported errors.

Who decides

The institution makes the decision and calculation.

Orders First can organize information, estimate a possible amount, and prepare a basic request. It does not determine whether the law applies to an account, calculate the institution's final adjustment, send the current request, or report an institution outcome.

The institution or servicer reviews the facts and documents, decides what applies, performs its own calculation, and communicates the result directly to the customer.
